I’ll be honest, I didn’t watch the Super Bowl. I might have if the 49er’s had made through the playoffs but no such luck this year. I have been a “Niner’s” fan ever since they could barely win 2 games a season but I don’t watch football much these days. All the hoopla about the big game and several recent conversations about what I do have gotten me to thinking about what my life feels like it may look like if it were a football game. Imagine it’s halfway through the 3rd quarter, the other team is up by 6 touchdowns and I have so many false start penalties…
My Story, Our Table: A Community in the Making
I am on a grand adventure with the sweetest woman, Patsy Weaver. She is kind, insightful and fiercely devoted to the Lord. Her heart is to build relationships with other so that she can serve them and see them either come to know Jesus or learn to know Him better. Today I’d like to share her account of how My Story, Our Table began. “When a friend from my neighborhood life group began to share with me that the Lord had given her a vision about opening a restaurant in downtown Sapulpa, I began to pray. Another friend came along side her and they opened, My Table Restaurant. It was their…

I think Martha, from the account of Luke chapter 10 in the Bible, was probably a type A personality. You know, one of those women who is super organized and painfully aware of everything that needs to be done and how they fit, or don’t fit, into a schedule. She probably had a desire to make sure she was the hostest with the mostest. Add to those things the drive to be productive and responsible and you can just go ahead and call me Martha. Like Martha’s sister Mary, I do know there is benefit to slowing down and sitting at the feet of Jesus but sometimes it’s just…
A Name to Be Thankful For
I will thank the LORD for his righteousness. I will sing about the name of the LORD Most High. Psalms 7:17 Recently, as I was reading my Bible, my attention was drawn to the way God was introducing Himself to people by using various names. The names He chose to introduce Himself were characteristic of both His nature and His activity in their lives at that moment. The story of Hagar in Genesis 16 particularly stood out to me. She was a slave of Abram and Sarai and pregnant with Abram’s child because they got impatient concerning God’s promise to give them a child of their own. Sarai had been…
